Baby Dedication

When the time of their purification according to the Law of Moses had been completed, Joseph and Mary took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, "Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord"). -Luke 2:22-23

At Foursquare Church we dedicate children as Jesus was dedicated by His parents before the Lord (Luke 2:22-23). The act of dedication is a commitment before the Lord by the parents to submit a child to God's will and to raise that child according to God's Word and His ways. Baby dedications take place monthly during our weekend services. If you have any questions, please email us at dedication@myfoursquarechurch.com.

Water Baptism

What is Water Baptism and why is it important?

At Foursquare Church we believe that baptism is a public declaration of an inward confession, meaning, after you ask Jesus to be the Lord and savior of your life (inward) you get baptized to show the change that just took place in your heart (outward). Baptism symbolizes us taking part in the death and resurrection of Jesus. Romans 6:4 says: “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the father, we too may live a new life.” Because of this we baptize people by fully immersing them in water. Going under the water symbolizes Jesus death, being put in the tomb, and coming out of the water symbolizes Jesus’ resurrection.

There are so many reasons to get baptized; but here are some the most important…

  1. Jesus Commands Us To (Matt. 28:18-20)
  2. Jesus Was Baptized (Matt. 3:13-17)
  3. It Pleases God (Matt. 3:17)
  4. It is how we identify with Jesus’ death and resurrection in our own life (Rom. 6:4)

Frequently Asked Questions:

How old do you have to be to get baptized?

Here at Foursquare Church there is no age limit or requirement for baptism; however, we ask that kids be old enough and mature enough to confidently make this choice on their own and truly understand the meaning behind it. If you feel as though your child might not be ready to get baptized we recommend Baby Dedications; which is simply an opportunity for one of our pastors to pray a blessing over you and your child, and for you as a parent to publically commit to raising your child in the things of the Lord.
