Why do we pray and fast? People are created to be in communion with God and one another. Fasting, is our opportunity to tune out all the white noise in our lives and refresh our relationship with God and people. A Time to remember the grace and mercy that He has given us and a time for healing, restoration and vision.

We invite you to join us as we pray and fast together for the sole purpose of getting closer to God and seeing His purposes come to pass in our lives and our church. This fast will be starting January 15th and lasting until January 29th .

Not everyone’s fast will look the same. There are many ways to fast and we hope that you will be led by the Holy Spirit in your choice of fast. The following are a few examples of types of fasts.

ABSOLUTE FAST

In this type of fast, you drink only liquids, typically water with light juices as an option. If you choose this fast, we highly recommend that you read the book “God Chosen Fast” by Arthur Wallis. This book is a wonderful resource for learning how to do a fast like this in a healthy way.

SELECTIVE FAST

This type of fast involves removing certain elements from your diet. One example of a selective fast is the Daniel Fast, during which you remove animal products, sugars, and bread from your diet.

PARTIAL FAST

This fast involves abstaining from eating any type of food in the morning and afternoon. This can either correlate to specific times of the day, such as 6:00 am to 3:00 pm, or from sunup to sundown.

SOUL FAST

This fast is about removing the noise and distraction of the world. For example, you might choose to stop using social media or watching television for the duration of the fast. This is a great option if you do not have much experience fasting food, have health issues that prevent you from fasting food, or if you wish to refocus and eliminate distraction.

If you have any questions or simply want to learn more about fasting, we encourage you to take a look at the book God Chosen Fast by Arthur Wallis. You can access the book online here.

2 Chronicles 7:14 says

"Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land."
